Abstract

This research was located at Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This research aims to determine the legal protection for consumers in online buying and selling transactions on facebook, the formulation of problem are the risks that can be accepted by consumers related to legal violation by business actors and the legal protection for consumers in online transaction on facebook. The method of analysis that used in this research is a qualitative method by analyzing the primary and secondary data and also considering the tendency, the suitability, disharmony, or the inconsistency, then conclude it with inductive reasoning/thinking methods. The population in this research is the online transaction consumers on facebook in Special Region of Yogyakarta Province with the sampling technique using multistage sampling method. Then, the primary data accumulation technique in this research are interviews and questionnaire through Google Form, while secondary data is obtained by studying literature which are studying primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. From this analysis, it can be concluded that the legal protection for consumers in online buying and selling transactions on facebook still facing some problems. Therefore, the authors provide suggestions related to these troubles to the consumers and business actors in online transactions on facebook, Yogyakarta Consumer Institutions as the guarantor institution for consumer rights related to legal protection for consumers, and the upcoming research on related topics.
