Abstract

his study aims to look at the prevention of child molestation at the Sangihe Islands District Police. Common problems that occur in society are physical and/or psychological violence. Lately, the violence that has been highlighted in the community is physical violence in the form of sexual harassment, the victims of which are children and the perpetrators can be adults and/or children. This is due to the nature of the naivety and innocence of a child who is often abused by others for their own interests, as an outlet for sexual desire, namely by molesting underage children. Obscenity is a contact interaction between a child and an adult in which the child is used for sexual stimulation by the perpetrator or another person who is in a position of having power or control over the victim. The data used in this study is primary data with direct interviews at the Sangihe Islands District Police regarding cases of sexual abuse of minors. The findings of the research show directly that the criminal act of obscenity that occurs is due to several factors, namely the lack of parental supervision, inadequate living conditions where there is still a lack of street lighting, the use of smart phones by using pornographic access so that it can trigger the occurrence of criminal acts of obscenity against children. under age. While the efforts made by the police through preventive and repressive efforts, namely by providing a deterrent effect with severe sanctions against suspects in cases of criminal acts of obscenity in accordance with the current law, then other countermeasures are socialization to various public places.
