Abstract
Covid-19 medical waste is leftover material from activities that is not reused and has the potential to be contaminated with infectious substances or contact with patients and/or officers in health care facilities that handle Covid-19 patients from service activities in the Emergency Unit, isolation room, ICU rooms, treatment rooms, and other service rooms. This study aims to analyze how the implementation of the Regional Regulation of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Number 2 of 2022 concerning Covid-19 Countermeasures through the management of Covid-19 self-isolation medical waste and also find out what are the obstacles and solutions to the implementation of these regulations. The research method used is empirical research that focuses on social facts. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of these regional regulations has been going well, but not maximally. Because there were still found several people of Yogyakarta City who do not manage self-isolation medical waste in accordance with the applicable regulations. The main problems faced are the lack of coordination from anatar parties and the lack of Human Resources in the monitoring and management of medical waste patients with independent isolation, while the obstacles faced by the public are minimnua education regarding the management of medical waste. The solution by increasing coordination between the parties and increasing the Human Resources to monitor the management of independent isolation patients and it is hoped that the government provides more education to the public regarding the management of medical waste.
