Abstract

In this digital era, the use of information and communication technology is not only used as a means of information and communication but is also used as a means of entertainment. With the need for entertainment facilities, various social media applications such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik-tok, and so on have been created. Through these applications, someone can access various kinds of entertainment in the form of videos, photos, or writing. As time goes by, many videos or entertainment content appear on social media that are detrimental to society, one of which is prank content. The prank phenomenon that occurs in Indonesia from time to time has experienced many shifts, from initially aiming to entertain to now becoming a polemic in society because it is considered to show something that is inappropriate or unethical. Several forms of pranks circulating on social media contain elements of content that violate the norms of decency in society. This research aims to determine the legal regulations regarding prank videos on social media that violate decency norms. The results of this research are legal rules that can be applied to prank content on social media that violates moral norms, namely Article 282 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Article 27 paragraph (1) of the ITE Law.
