Abstract

The writing of this law is entitled "Legal Aspects of the Role of Fishermen in Protecting Coastal Environmental Pollution from Pollution Due to Fishing Activities at Baron Gunung Kidul Beach", in writing this law explaining and examining (1) What is the role of fishermen in efforts to protect the coastal environment from pollution due to fishing activities in Baron Gunung Kidul Beach? (2) What are the fishermen's obstacles and solutions in efforts to protect the coastal environment from pollution due to fishing activities at Baron Gunung Kidul Beach? This is an empirical legal research. Data collection techniques were carried out directly from sources and respondents through interviews and literature studies. The results of this study are that the role of fishermen is quite large because there are groups of fishermen who are also quite active then contributions from the relevant agencies are conducting continuous socialization related to environmentally friendly fishing gear encouraging fishermen not to use hazardous materials such as bombs and others. The obstacle from the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Gunung Kidul Regency is that its authority is reduced so that it only has authority on the beach in the form of coaching small fishermen and from fishermen, namely referring to the awareness of each member of the community on Baron beach. It is suggested to related parties to pay more attention to the facilities and infrastructure for these fishermen so that they can use tools that are environmentally friendly so as not to damage other marine biota.
