Abstract

The title of the legal writing in this research is Overcoming Environmental Damage Due to Illegal Sand Mining Activities at Kampung Urumb Beach, Semangga District, Merauke Regency. The problem in this research is environmental damage due to illegal sand mining on the beach. This article uses an empirical writing method where the writing pays attention to social facts in the field. The results of this research are that the Merauke Regency Environmental Service has carried out 2 of the 4 stages of mitigation in accordance with Article 53 paragraph (2) UUPPLH, namely providing warning information about pollution and/or environmental damage to the community and stopping sources and/or environmental damage. The conclusion of this research is that the Merauke Regency Environmental Service in dealing with Environmental Damage Due to Illegal Sand Mining Activities in Urumb Village, Semangga District, Merauke Regency is good but not yet optimal. The author has a suggestion, namely for the Environmental Service to carry out strict supervision and control, to open up alternative livelihoods for communities involved in illegal mining and to ensure the status of Urumb Beach's Ulayat Rights.
