Abstract

The development of media in Indonesia is growing faster. The growth influences the rise of workers in media. One of them which become the spear of the profession of this field is journalists. They are assigned to inform news to the society quickly and accurately. Thus, while doing the pervasion, they work 24 hours. They face tight working time and several risks. In facing those challenges, journalists should get compensation corresponds with their work. In this case is the enhancing of welfare. This writing of law analyzes law protection toward working time, salary, and social assurance for journalists working at Press Agency Antara, Bureau Yogyakarta. This research is an empirical law research which needs primary data as the principal data. The method of data collecting is by using interviews and library research. It can be concluded that law protection toward journalists is not maximally implemented. It needs roles from Press Company to shift their ways of thinking that journalists are not merely worker but also partners. Besides, it is also followed by government roles to control the implementation of labour laws
