Abstract
Forests are increasingly threatened harm caused by the management and utilization. The existence of illegal logging activities, forest fires are some kinds of events that often threaten the existence of the forest. In writing this law, the authors conducted a study with an empirical manner and method of random ampling. Kotawaringin West, Central Kalimantan is one of the areas in Indonesia which has a vast forest area, the activities of land clearing by changing the status of forests into plantations without permits are complete. This is a new form of illegal logging activities. Legal protection of the quality of the forest itself has done quite well, just that its implementation was not optimal because there are a lot of attraction own interests which may also lead to poor forest governance.
