Abstract

The difference of pattern and the human behaviour among the societies in the era of growth and development affects on criminals. Based on the fact above, the role of Class II B Penitentiary of Sleman regency in educating inmates, in order not to repeat their criminal action. And the inmates may come back to their society by carrying out the skills they have learned during the educating program in Class II B Penitentiary of Sleman Regency. The writer has observed the process and the obstacles of educating the inmates in class II B Penitentiary of Sleman Regency. The purpose of this activity is knowing the process and the obstacles of educating the inmates in class II B Peniteniary of Sleman Regency. The method used is the empirical law observation, that is the primary datas is used beside the secondary ones. By using the collecting technique through observation, interview, and library research in the form of literature, regulation, document, and the like. The result of the observation shows that personality and independent education in class II B Peniteniary of Sleman Regency runs effectively, so whenever the inmates leave the patienary, they will be able to get along with the society and think positively. But in fact, there is a lack of officers in carrying out the process of education in Class II B Peniteniary of Sleman Regency, the motivation of the inmates is not adequate, there is not enough room to carry out the programs. The writer suggests the government to pay more attention to Class II B Peniteniary of Sleman Regency in solving the obstacles of carrying out the programs to educate the inmates, so that in future the programs will result better.
