Abstract

This Legal writing which is done by the authors aim to: Knowing and obtain data regarding the importance of realization of the rights of prisoners to obtain reading materials and following other media releases that not prohibited which is done in class IIA Wirogunan Penitentiary Yogyakarta. The method of this research is an empirical legal research that focuses on the behavior of law (law in action), and this study uses primary data as the primary data and secondary data as supporting data. Based on the analysis that the author did in the previous chapters, it can be taken a conclusion that the realization of the rights of prisoners to obtain reading materials and following other media releases that not prohibited which is done in class IIA Wirogunan Penitentiary Yogyakarta during period of detention relatively good, this was proved by the presence of the prison’s library and TV that was provided and also proved by the officers that specifically coordinate and organize it. The Interest and enthusiasm from prisoners to read and following other media releases that not prohibited is a positive thing but it is requires improvement and the provision of reading material in libraries and other mass media so that the rights of prisoners are met with even better.
