Abstract

Clemency, remission and parole are prisoners' rights. Thirdly it can be given to prisoners if it fulfills the requirements specified in the legislation. In this case, Schapelle Leigh Corby an international network of narcotics cases inmate arrested for carrying 4.2 kg Narcotics class I (marijuana) be given sentenced to 20 years in prison on the decision of the Supreme Court and granted clemency and forgiveness in the form of reduction of crime in the form of remission and parole by the Indonesian government. The method used is the author of normative law, where the research is itself a normative or legal research conducted focusing on the positive legal norms in the form of legislation. Sources obtained from several books and articles. Secondary data were obtained from a newspaper article and legislation in force. The results showed that the clemency, Remission and Parole granted to Schapelle Leigh Corby reap the many contradictions of Indonesian society. Indonesian society believe that granting clemency to Corby violate public justice. But the Indonesian government still give forgiveness to Corby with considerations based on humanity. In February 2014, the official Corby get parole granted by the Government of Indonesia.
