Abstract

In this thesis the writer discussed police role in protecting the wife’s right as the victim of neglect family. The background of this thesis is the reality of many family abuse occuring in society. The research problem of this thesis are police role in protecting the wife’s right as the victim of neglect family and obstacles faced by police in protecting the right’s wife. The method of this research is normative law, the research was done directly to speakers, the fundamental data supported by secondary data consisting of a law primary and secondary. The sources of the data in this research were obtained from field studies and literature study. The data which were obtained from literature study as well as in field studies using qualitative analysis. Based on the analysis that had been done by the writer, the writer can sum up as follows: Police undertook legal proceedings againts family abuse if there were reports or complaints. Police woman accompanied victims of family abuse. The Police Department provided the RPK (special service room) for victims of family abuse. The obstacle that police faced in protecting the wife’s right as the victim of neglect family is the lack of awareness of the victim to report the abuse in spite of there is regulations from the government.
