Abstract

The development of communications technology has been spreading through many of the worldto be able to make it easy for the community mutual communicate over long distances one of the mobile service. But in line with technology development, still many people who can not use of communication technology on features SMS services, because one of them is limited recognize letters (illiterate) owned by Indonesian society which totaled 3.6 millionin 2013. The method that was used to help communication for people with a illiterate with the application ofvoice recognition and text to speech the SMS service for detecting user spoken voice in to a text and translate each sentence in the form of sound as output. In the speech recognition process using Google voice recognition APIs contained in theAndroid smartphone must beconnected to them Internet to connect to Google voice recognition data base server, while for text to speech service using the link source text to speech API of Google translated, and the application of mobile built could only use indonesian language. Expected results author on SMS application for illiterate with the application of speech recognition and text to speech, can provide facilities in reading and send SMS without using android smartphone keypad, so that it can learn in is self-taught recognize a sentence, save energy, simplify, and save time
