Abstract

An injury on the head is identify as the prime cause of the death in the accidents of motorcycle. This research aims to identify the safe type of helmet and helmet specification. The population of the respondent were composed of motorcyclist in Yogyakarta, 200 people were randomly selected. The data were collected by using questionnaire. The questionnaire investigate the helmet data and the degree of injuries are caused by the accidents. The result of study using Chi-Square Tests show that the helmet type, the visor accessories, the visor's color, the chinstrap accessories and drivers speed have influenced on the position and the degree of injuries on accident. The analysis of the data for every helmet type is : At 81,22 kilometer per hours average speed, 2.04% of 49 respondents which use full face helmet were injured on the head. At 62,7 kilometer per hours average speed, 11.76% of 34 respondents which use open face helmet were injured on the head. At 63,76 kilometer per hours average speed, 8,24% of 97 respondents which use city tour open face helmet were injured on the head. While 40,74% of 162 respondents which use open face (unlawed helmet) were injured on the head at 61,18 kilometer per hours average speed. At lowest speed, respondent which use open face (unlawed helmet), were injured on the head.
