Abstract

Number of cases of domestic violence are rarely reported to law enforcement agencies particularly the police, making it difficult for police officers as investigators to conduct an investigation / examination of cases of domestic violence. The police as law enforcement officials should always be in charge of the laws in force in accordance with the provisions of the legislation in force in accordance with its function as an investigator. So the author in writing this law was entitled "The Police Law Enforcement Against Domestic Violence in Yogyakarta Police Jurisdiction". The police have the duty and authority to enforce the existing laws in accordance with laws and regulations and must protect society from crime. In this case, more emphasis on domestic violence crimes. The issue of domestic violence really complex, but difficult to detect the incidence and severity of casualties , because many cases go unreported, the victims tend to conceal the violence they experience with street in silence or try to hide it filed for divorce to end the suffering endured. Thus the difficulty for police to conduct investigations of cases of domestic violence. The police in handling domestic violence cases do all it can to crack down on perpetrators of domestic violence, but there are obstacles that faced the police, including threats that often feel that the circumstances experienced is not a situation that must be known. So the police as law enforcement officers must constantly monitor the development of society and provide socialization to the community that domestic violence is a crime that must be followed up and should be reported to law enforcement authorities of the police.
