Abstract

The Role of UNICEF in the Protection of the Children Victims of the Lapindo Mudflow, is the title of this research. There are many children to be victims caused by the Lapindo Mudflow. This research explain and study profound the role of the UNICEF, as an official institution of the United Nations. This institution works to protect the rights of the children victims. The children must grow in their personality as a human person.The main problem is how the UNICEF must fulfill their role to protect the children victims. To achieve their goal for this protection the UNICEF could not do for themselves, but always collaborate with the other institutions and the local community, and to promote that the local community should self help. In reality the local community ready to help the children victims, although they must work without support from any part. The UNICEF also must collaborate with the government. There is good coordination to protect the rights of the children victims. So in front of the victims, all human being, specially the UNICEF has fulfill their role to develop the children that they have rights, they must grow normally, although in the disaster situation of the Lapindo Mundflow.
