Abstract

The problem of thesis with entitled of “The role of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission in Overseeing Government Policy in The Field of Onion Important” is how the role of Commission of Business Competition Supervisor (KPPU) in overseeing government policy in the field of onion import. Accordingly this thesis aims to determine the extent to which the role of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission in Overseeing the Government Policy in the Field of Imported Onions when associated with the duties and authorities possessed by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission stipulated in Article 35 letter e Law Number 5 Year 1999. This thesis using empirical legal methods. The result of this thesis is The Commission for the supervision of Business Competition as an institution granted authority by Law Number 5 Year 1999 has performed its duties and functions as regulated in Article 35 letter e. However, the suggestions and considerations provided by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission are voluntary in nature, which means that the parties provided advice and considerations may follow or not follow these suggestions and judgments. This is why the recommendation given by the KPPU in the field of onion import has not been felt effectively, which in the end because of the unavailability of such suggestions and considerations caused the scarcity and soaring of onion prices.
