Abstract

The organisers of Pentingsari Tourism Village often have difficulties in communicating with foreign visitors who do not speak Indonesian. These organisers desire to acquire practical English language training, in order to develop communication skills with tourists from overseas. These factors are reasons for the researchers to solve the problems faced by Pentingsari Tourism Village by providing them with the English language training. The method used is by using the visual training materials, practicing conversation and modules in 7 meetings, with a duration of 100 minutes per meeting. The material provided is conversation and vocabulary used in introductions, food and beverage, place and direction as well as cooking activities in English. Through the trainings, the organisers and villagers are able to establish a simple, yet useful, communication with foreign tourists. Easy communication can provide the Pentingsari residents’ confidence to explain the uniqueness of their village. On the other hand, the foreign tourists can easily be familiar with the tourist sites they have visited and receive the hospitality of the Pentingsari residents. Besides, the organisers’ English proficiency can also be developed to expand their marketing to a larger target market of foreigner
