Abstract

As a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) based on Indonesian ratification to the WTO agreement in 1994, the government of Indonesia had obligation to the implement of all WTO agreement. WTO agreement included Agremeent on Agriculture product (AoA). AoA set 3 things namely market access, domestic subsidies and export subsidies, 3 things that encourage the liberalization in the agricultural sector and the reduced role of the state to regulate in the field of agriculture through the removal of agricultural subsidies. The occurrence of liberalization in the food sector could lead to import rice into Indonesia, sold at low prices so that domestic rice has to compete with imported rice. With the removal of subidies many farmers suffered losses so that Indonesia be dependece woth foreign nations and Indonesian food security threateaned The problem was research by using normative studies, the data of this research were collected by library research and interview with some officers who had authority in field concerned The data was analyzed by qualitative method. From the data analyzed it could be concluded that the government of Republik Indonesia has took measures to protect domestic agriculture product due the losses of Indonesia domestic agriculture product in free trade
