Abstract

Construction consists of any phase activities in project. Certainly in every phase of work change occur as an issue that decorate in stage of work. In change management, change order is one of the variation in project. This paper presents an exploratory case study to identify main point of change order case in Yogyakarta. Basic statement used for supporting method in order to answer the objectives. By identifying change order case, parties involved as planner and executor are able to analyze their performance that influence relationship between all parties. The purpose of this study is to identify what are change order parameter on building projects in Yogyakarta, what are the response type of contractor in the face of change order. The data that used in this study are collected by distributing questionnaire to the contractors directly in Yogyakarta. Equally in every project, The respondents are project manager, site manager, and site engineer. Ranking change order is used to identifiy the main causes , effects, benefits, and remedies of change orders, and response type by contractor perception in the facing of change orders. Descriptive statistics using excel to identify the accumulate number from questionnaire. The result of data analysis showed that respondents strongly agree with statement in questionnaire that the main cause is owner instructs modification to design, the effects is cost overruns, benefits is prevent disputes between contractor and owner, and remedies about the procedures for handling change order are clear from beginning. Indicate to response type, avoidance and reduction get the high response from cause and effect. The result also implies that with basic statement can answer simple issue in project. Finally change orders have positively related to the contractor performance, not too much contribution on increasing contractor reputation.
