Abstract

The theme of this thesis is about copyright. Furthermore, it is about the involvement of the state institution to overcome the forgery of visual arts issue. I choose copyright as the theme based on the similar case of forgery that often happen in my surroundings. Besides that, a few years ago the claiming issues about authentic dishes, traditional dance, or culture was being the public discussions. The claims of cultural products such as rendang, reog, and batik are some of the examples that have triggered the debates and argues between the two neighboring countries that drives to conflict and makes this such an important issue. The accumulation of such issues in my surrounding became the consideration to choose copyright to be the theme of this thesis. Accompanied by empirical research, advices from my lecturer, and my desire, this thesis made for a manifestation to my concern for cases and issues of forgery of visual arts. The method is by the interviewing the local artist about how they protect their works from forgery and what they think about copyright in arts. The ways to keep the artwork from plagiaristsm is from to take the picture and make a some of exhibition, of course anything what it for documented .This thesis also goes through the process of data requirements in the Department of Law and Human Rights related to copyright and how to protect arts from the forgery.
