Abstract
This thesis was concerning with the problem of the former ISIS members’ protection after the end of ISIS by Kurdish forces in the armed conflict in Syria. The rejection and removal of citizenship of the former ISIS members by their home countries made them no longer being protected from their home country and still living in refugee camps run and some of them detained by Kurdish forces in Syria. This thesis aimed to determine how the protection of international law for former members of ISIS who were refused to return to their country. The problem was studied by normative legal research that focuses on international legal legislation and library research and the conclusion was done by a deductive method. Based on data analysis it could be concluded that international law provides protection for former ISIS members consist of protection of prisoner of war for former ISIS who were detained, protection of refugees for those who were refused to return their countries and protection as stateless for those who had been removed from citizenship.
