Abstract

A variety of industries continue to develop, both large and small scale. Industrial development in addition to having a positive impact also resulted in the emergence of negative impact on the environment, such as water or air pollution. To tackle pollution, the Kulon Progo Environmental Agency (DLH) has the authority to control environmental impact in the Kulon Progo Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of DLH in tackling the impact of tofu industry activities and inhibiting factors. This research uses a juridical approach with empirical legal research. Sources of data obtained through primary data and secondary data. The results showed that river water pollution prevention as a result of tofu industry activities in Sentolo Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency by DLH had been carried out. It was still not optimal due to several obstacles. the obstacles that face by DLH such a low awareness of the community and industry players, limited funding of DLH in dealing with water pollution rivers, and the difficulty of determining the location of WWTP or biodigester manufacturing.
