Abstract

Indonesia does not have adequate capability in the surveillance of the exclusive economic zone. That situation are the chance for theforeign fisherman to steal fish in Indonesia's sea exclusive economic zone became bigger. The methods in this thesis use normative research. The data was collected by library research on International Law by United Nation on The Law of The Sea (UNCLOS) 1982 andfisheries law. The conclusion from this thesis is handling the illegal fishing in Indonesia with drowned the ship by Indonesian government by President Joko Widodo and the Minister Mrs Susi Pudjiastuti is legal.. The Article 73 ofUNCLOS 1982 regulates that the coastal state may, in the exercise of its sovereign rights to explore, exploit, conserve and manage the living resources in the exclusive economic zone, take such measures, including boarding, inspection, arrest, andjudicial proceedings, as may be necessary to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations adopted by zt zn conformity with the UNCLOS 1982.
