Abstract

This research aims at identifying factors that influence on craftsmen productivity as project manager's perception in construction projects in DIY. The study also analysed the relationships between training and supervision and craftsmen productivity, and identified effective contributions of training and supervision to craf s,nen productivity. The instrument of training and supervision (wish modification) was adopted from Kirkpartik (1990) and Machiavellian Personality model that was modified by Christie et.al. (1970) as cited by Nahavandi (1997).---Whereas the instrument of craftsmen productivity used combines of them. The study utilised causal correlational model. Data analyses were treated with descriptive analysis, bivariate analysis, multivariate analysis, linear regression and path analysis. The study succesfully obtained 80 respondents (40 craftsmen and 40 project manager). The factors that influence on craftsmen productivity ware analysed by descriptive analysis. The output of the descriptive analysis shows that the majority of craftsmen's education was up to elementamy school (67.5%). O'hereas the majority of project manager's education was graduated from university (62.5%). The results also showed that the majority of the craftsmen's and project manager's experiences was more than 5 years work (67.5% and 55%). The correlation between training and supervision as individual or aggregate data and craftsmen productivity shows positive relationship and it can statistically be accepted at significance level of 95%. The effective contribution of training to craftsmen productivity was more dominant compared with supervision contribution.
