Abstract

Flores is one of the islands in the province of NTT and is quite popular in Indonesia. Flores has a diversity of cultural and tourism resources. However, finding the location of tourism destinations for people who are not familiar with Flores is certainly very difficult. It may be that tourists have to ask directions to get from one place to another and this of course will take a lot of time and effort. One solution to these problems may be the use of a combination of augmented reality technology and location-based services. The application of augmented reality technology is achieved by combining objects in two or three dimensions in a real environment and projecting the virtual objects in real time, while the location based service has the ability to determine the geographical position of the user by employing GPS. The GPS function is to determine the global positioning and navigation coordinates. This application was designed for the Android smartphone operating system, where users are increasing rapidly and which has a prominent place in the world smartphone market. This application is expected to assist the user in determining the location of tourism objects and public facilities located on the island of Flores.
